Seems like apache doesn’t like vista, or vista doesn’t like apache. I just tried to install it and it threw up a few permission denied errors when writing httpd.conf during the final stages of installation. I’ve not yet googled to see if there is a way around it, but, for the first time (in a whole 28 hours) i have to say I’m a bit dissapointed with vista, this means i can either:
- Wait until [or hope] apache is sorted for use with vista
- Use my webspace, but that takes so long to to transfer stuff over FTP
- Set up another computer as a server
I am thinking of doing the latter, as that means I can get a bit more experience with linux, also it’ll mean that it removes the need for additional stuff to be running on my computer, that I don’t use all the time, and finally I can get rid of all the stuff (photo’s, software, videos) that are shared over my network. I just need a hard drive(s) to store it all on now
